The Ashmolean Museum will receive £20,000 from a grant to pay for conservation projects.

The money is from the European Fine Art Foundation’s Museum Restoration Fund, after a panel of international experts allocated funding to the Oxford attraction.

It will go towards carrying out a conservation project on two candelabra by the 18th century Italian artist Giovanni Battista Piranesi.

The fund also gave money to the Worcester Art Museum in Worcester, Massachusetts to restore a pair of portraits by fellow 18th century artist, Briton William Hogarth.
