THE National Museum Cardiff will be awash with colour from this weekend when Pop and Abstract opens at the museum’s contemporary galleries.
Some of the world’s best known artists such as David Hockney and Peter Blake will feature alongside a host of names from Wales.
The exhibition will explore the history of abstract and pop art during the course of the 20th century with particular reference to the collection here in Cardiff and the way artists in Wales have contributed to the movement. Many of the paintings have never been seen by the public before.
Majoring on pop art as its central theme the exhibition aims to show a glorious period in the history of British art.
Pop and Abstract opens today and runs until September 1.
